7.The ASSEMBLY® Bag also holds a special interactive item designed by two young designers Ms Siti Zubaidah Bte Raman and Ms Thiang Effie Nathania. They are third-year Industrial Design students from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) who worked on this project for five weeks. The two were among 27 NYP students who participated in a competition organised by the NDP Executive Committee to design this year’s FunPack items. The Clappastar, which resembles a star, emits a unique sound when shaken in a left-right motion. It also has blinking LED lights that will create a shiny glitter in the night.
Nanyang Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra clinches gold at int'l event

SINGAPORE: The Nanyang Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra has clinched a gold award in the "instrumental Category" at the 18th Australian International Music Festival held in Sydney.
This was the orchestra's first international foray.
According to Chris Gibbs, GM and Director of World Projects, Nanyang is the first and only team in the history of all their festivals to receive full marks.
The orchestra was also one of the three groups to be invited to perform at the Festival's Closing Ceremony at the Sydney Opera House. - CNA
